In 2009, an agreement was signed between the mayors of Kraków and San Francisco to establish a sister city relationship to foster international friendship and understanding through cultural and educational exchange and the facilitating of personal, business, and governmental ties between the citizens of San Francisco, California, and Kraków, Poland.

 

Since that date, the San Francisco-Kraków Sister Cities Association has sponsored numerous lectures, business-development meetings, tech conferences, literary and arts festivals, fine arts and performing arts events, and educational exchanges.
